sorry for the lack of rapport here lately.
i've been extremely busy with commissions.
one little ad on facebook was all it took for the
requests and payments to overtake me.
it's very thrilling and challenging and i feel
very lucky and grateful that i have so many friends
and fans that appreciate my work.

and so i will extend the same offer here on da:
for $60 ($80 if outside the US) i will draw you
anything you want and ship it to you.
anything: a person, place, concept, emotion
a poem, ANYTHING. i will draw it like no one
else can and i will make it a thing of haunting beauty.
message me if you're interested.

special thanks to my good friend
and frequent muse sara skogsberg
:iconsaraess:
she knows why. ;)

pleased to announce that once i get a handle
on the work i have cut out for myself.
my good friend and one of my favorite all time
comic artist diego tripodi
:icondiegotripodi:
will be collaborating once again.
diego is a really smart and warm guy
who is really passionate about his work
and is really fun to work with as he really
throws himself headfirst into a project.

my beautiful wife angela has finished up with her
school curriculum for her degree in mortuary sciences
which has freed up some time for her to draw once again.
it's exciting to see all of that repressed creativity blast
onto the paper. please check out her gallery and give her
a warm dA welcome:

:ufo:

so i decided to shelf my tarot deck project for the time being.

i tried submitting what i have so far to virtually every publisher of tarot cards, (something they encourage you to do before completing an entire deck, which makes sense)
getting flat, outright rejections. perhaps it's the gratuitous nudity and explicit sexuality?

regardless, looking back at some of the pieces, i feel they could be much stronger with a different approach that i didn't fully realize until the other day, which would be to take the time to work in more symbols and archetypes that correlate with each card and what it represents. ( my latest piece, "league" is an example of what i'd be going for stylistically)

:ufo:

i'm going to start a new graphic novel.

right now i'm starting to experiment with different styles of inking. i really love the effect that can be achieved when i use my ballpoint pen and warm grey markers, but it takes SO much longer to complete a page that way.

i'm considering dipping my foot in the waters of digital inking. anyone who has any suggestions, advice, or photoshop-tricks-of-the-trade to offer in this respect would be gratefully appreciated.

what i'm trying to do is devise a way to continue to use my ballpoint shading effect for faces and such, but be able to digitally fill areas without it looking too choppy or pixelated around my chaotic hatchwork.

any thoughts?
